Black Rouge was founded in Febuary of 2008 by Howard Gutenstein. After 20+ years in the Information Technology(IT) field Howard saw that while small and medium businesses were using Technology not everyone understood how to use it effectivly.
Black Rouge Technologies mission is to help businesses that need IT but do not want to learn all the mobo jumbo, propeller head talk required to deal with technology. We are here to smiplify your IT and Business process and create a return on the investment you have made in your technology.
Some history:
Howard started working with computers at the age of 13 writting basic programs to do things like roll dice and calaulate averages. His formal career started in 1987 at the age of 22 after grauating with a certificate in computer programing from Computer Learning Center in Paramus NJ.
His first job was with a subsitiary of Squibb Pharmicutical processing online medical bills and claim forms. It was Howard's job to ensure that the doctors and hospitals that used Squibb's services to upload and download medical records were working and configured propertly. He was also responsible for all the network connections back to the Data Center located at SunGuard in Phillidellpha, PA. His final hat was the processing of the printed bills and claim forms. When Howard arrived to the position it took over 3 weeks for a claim form to be printed, processed, mailed and recevied by a paient. Howard evaluated the process and reduced the overall time to one week from printing to paient.
In 1989 Squibb sold the business to Medical Data Services and Howard moved to Richmond, VA. Where his rolls changed and he was focused on the hardware side of the business. Howard primary responsiblity was configuring communications devices. His primary responsibliy was to support doctor's offices process their electronic claim forms. This could require Howard to assitst the office staff on configuring or resetting their equiptment. If required Howard would come onsite and troubleshoot and fix the issue.
In 1990 Howard moved back to NJ where he worked for Prodigy, one of the first Internet service providers. His two years at Prodigy were filled with all aspects of IT. Known as the "fixer" Howard would be assigned to IT teams that needed structure and leadership. During his tenure he help supervise the Helpdesk, Telecommunications, Networking and Deskside support.
In 1992 Howard received his certification as a Novell CNE and took a roll as a Network and Email team lead at RAM Mobile Data. Responsible for building, supporting and maintaing all Servers and Email services for RAM Howard was seletcted to help pilot one of the first mobile email systems.
In 1994 Howard went to work as a consultant supporting the Email Services for the following companies

- Land and Sea Shipping
- Simon & Schuster
In 1995 while consulting for Simon & Schuster he was asked to join their management team as Manager of Email and Messgaing. In 1998 Simon & Schuster sold their educational publishing to Pearson Education. Over his 7 years at Pearson
